Oat Milk Ranch Dressing

A dairy-free ranch dressing recipe built on oat milk's mild, creamy base - a good demonstration of oat milk's savory range.

Oat Milk Ranch Dressing

Oat milk isn't limited to sweet drinks and baking - its mild flavor and creamy texture make it a genuinely good base for a dairy-free ranch dressing, without any strange aftertaste some plant milks bring to a savory application.

Oat Milk Ranch Dressing

Prep time: 10 minutes, plus chilling | Makes: about 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegan or regular mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup oat milk
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped, or 1 tsp dried
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped, or 1 tsp dried
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, oat milk, and vinegar or lemon juice until smooth.
  2. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, chives, parsley, and dill.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the flavors meld, though it's usable right away if needed.

Notes

This dressing keeps in the fridge for about a week. It will thicken slightly when chilled - thin with a splash more oat milk if needed before serving.

Why Oat Milk Works Well Here

Oat milk's neutral, mild flavor doesn't fight with ranch's herb and garlic-forward profile the way a more distinctly flavored plant milk (like almond or coconut) sometimes can, and its natural creaminess helps thin the mayonnaise base to the right pourable consistency without needing to add plain water.

What to Use It On

  • A simple green salad
  • As a dip for raw vegetables or chicken wings
  • Drizzled over roasted vegetables
  • As a sandwich or wrap spread

Variations

  • Spicier version: Add a dash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne.
  • Extra herby version: Increase the fresh herbs for a greener, more pronounced herb flavor, closer to a green goddess dressing.
  • Thinner version: Add more oat milk for a pourable dressing consistency rather than a thicker dip.
